Shaun & Mateo Tsakiris – Back To Back MLS Cup Champions
Congratulations to Shaun Tsakiris (former Los Gatos United Technical Director) and Mateo Tsakiris (former LG United player) on their recent success. For the second straight year, Coach Tsakiris saw his LA Galaxy side emerge as MLS Next Cup champions with a resounding 4-1 win over Charlotte FC. While Coach Tsakiris led from the sidelines, Mateo (team captain) made his mark on the field.
Both father and son earned accolades for their performance. Mateo is one of three LA Galaxy players named to the third annual MLS NEXT All-Star Game (East vs West) to be held on July 23, 2024. Coaching the West side in the All Star game is none other than LA Galaxy U-17 Head Coach Shaun Tsakiris, who recently became the first coach to win the U-17 age group of MLS NEXT Cup twice (2023 and 2024).
The All Star game will showcase North America’s top young players in an East vs. West matchup at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, July 23 at 8:30 a.m. PT and streaming live on www.mlssoccer.com. Admission to the game is free, as fans in Columbus can watch the future stars of MLS take center stage during MLS All-Star week.
Shaun Tsakiris was Technical Director of Los Gatos United from 2019-2022. The Club saw unprecedented growth during his tenure (which included current Sporting Director Shawn Blakeman).
