USA vs. Italy – FIFA U-20 World Cup, Round of 16

Homegrown standout Niko Tsakiris, son of LGU Technical Director Shaun Tsakiris, made a major impact in the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team’s Round of 16 victory over Italy.

The USA faced Italy on October 9, 2025, and led 1–0 at halftime. In the 78th minute, Niko stepped up after being fouled just outside the box and delivered a perfectly placed left-footed free kick, bending it around the Italian wall and into the back of the net. His goal gave the U.S. the momentum to finish strong, adding another in stoppage time to seal the 3–0 win.

This marks Niko’s second goal of the tournament, a testament to his composure and skill on the world stage. With the win, the USA advances to the quarterfinals in Rancagua, where they’ll face Morocco on Sunday, October 12, at 1:00 PM PST.
