Soccer League


Our Fall Recreational league is offered for players ages 4 to 17, with practices starting the week of August 31st. Games begin the weekend after Labor Day (September 12th) and conclude on November 8th. There are 1-2 practices each week depending on your child’s age group, and most age groups will play 9 games in total, held on Saturdays. We’re also excited to offer our Pride of Los Gatos Tournament for U10 & U12 once again!

Players will practice and play under the guidance of volunteer parent coaches who will receive weekly lesson plans, coaching advice, and coaching education clinics from our Recreational Director of Coaching. We are always in need of coaches, and anyone with a positive attitude is encouraged to volunteer, regardless of soccer or sports experience.

The cost of registration includes a photo of your player and team, and a full uniform including jersey, shorts, and socks.

Friend Requests

Los Gatos United offers mutual buddy requests! You will have the opportunity to enter the buddy’s name when you register online. In the absence of a request, we do our best to match several children from the same school.

If you need to update your buddy request after you register, please email the Rec Registrar with your child’s name and birth year, and provide the full name of your friend.

Format, Practice, and Key Dates

Game schedules will be posted by September 7th. All games are played on Saturdays at Los Gatos and Union School District fields, with the exception of U16 & U18 (high school age groups), which participate in the CYSA District II Play-through league. Please see our Play-through FAQ for more information.

Children born before 2012 (U10+) practice two (2) days a week. Practice times and locations will be selected by your volunteer coach according to his/her availability.

Rec League Volunteer Requirement
Our fall program would not be possible without the help of 100+ volunteers. Due to ongoing struggles to recruit volunteers every year, and to avoid burn-out of the parents who have served the program for seasons on end, the league has instituted a mandatory service requirement of 2 hours per family. A $25 deposit per player will be charged upon registration. This amount will be refunded at the end of the season if the service obligation is met. Hourly volunteer opportunities will be posted on our website in August.

Coaching is always our greatest need, and the number of teams we are able to form each year depends directly on how many people volunteer to coach. Please consider registering to coach or assistant coach. While knowledge of the game is a plus, the most important qualities in a recreational coach are a positive attitude and a commitment to FUN. Age Group Coordinators
AGCs act as liaisons between the Rec Director and volunteer coaches and are absolutely vital to the success of the program. This is a job that you can easily perform from the comfort of your home and your computer. We are seeking 12 highly-organized and communicative individuals who love spreadsheets and have a little free time during the summer to help us prepare for the season. AGCs work within their own child’s age group, and also help form teams within one or two other age groups. This is a great way to get to know all the coaches in your age group and provide input into the way we run the program. Volunteer Coordinator
We are seeking a volunteer to coordinate our volunteers! Similar to the AGC role, this position can be fulfilled from the comfort of your laptop. Experience with iVolunteer is a plus, but not required. You will be responsible for posting and configuring tasks online, and assisting the Rec staff in tracking the hours families have served. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail and high tolerance for fussy web technologies. You must also have daily internet access for the month of August, when most of the setup for the season takes place.   • Requests made before July 16th: 100% refund less $25 administrative fee
  • Requests made between July 16th and August 31st: 50% refund
  • We regret that we cannot offer any refunds after practices begin on August 31st, except in cases of injury (with a doctor’s note).
  • Practice schedule conflicts: due to the complexity of scheduling 80+ teams with limited field space, we cannot accommodate practice day conflicts. Families may request a 50% refund if they need to withdraw from the season.
  • In the event of cancellation of the entire season due to COVID-19 restrictions, families will receive a full refund minus the $25 administrative fee.
