About Abby

In July 2022, we lost a beloved member of our soccer community, 14-year-old Abby Meeske, who played on the 2008 team. Diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in January 2022, she bravely battled through several courses of chemotherapy and beat cancer. However, she developed an infection while in remission that her immune system could not overcome.

Abby’s Los Gatos United teammates will always remember her positive spirit, her kind smile and unwavering friendship on and off the pitch.

To honor her spirit and indomitable joy for life, her family – parents Kyle and Jenny and her brother Logan (2010) – have started a non-profit organization, The Abby Meeske Foundation, to help patients and families impacted by childhood leukemia and fund leading-edge research to improve patient outcomes. Abby’s Assist is the new giving arm of the foundation, and the 1st Annual Winter Classic is just the beginning of the beautiful legacy Abby leaves behind.
